Come on, no takers?? Really??
This is quite a good album.
My mate Wes used to call him Eric Clapped Out but I still like some of his stuff.

Great album. Lots more classics than just the title cut. Clapton's best playing; I think lining up next to Duane Allman really pushed him in a good way... and vice versa.

I've got the original on vinyl and the 20th Anniversary box set on CD.

I mean, it's better than that time he said that Britain needed to "get the wogs and the coons out" because it was in danger of becoming "a black colony", but my patience is fucking limited with Clapton.

I had forgotten that incident. He was drunk at a gig right and came out with this racist drivel, right? In the 70's or 80's? That's really bad. It's not right at all. Totally wrong.

I looked it up. Apparently it led to the Rock Against Racism movement being formed, in the wake of Clapton's comments, which can only be a good thing. They put on gigs and events.

It's made me think twice about streaming his songs in future. I don't want to hand royalties money to a racist person.

Had to look up "wogs." Never heard that one before. Is that a UK thing?

I believe so, though it's pretty antiquated. Certainly not a term you ever hear anymore, at least not where I live.

This is a terrific album, after Disraeli Gears the best album Clapton was a part of and those two would be enough to warrant his legendary status, even if his subsequent solo career was quite a bit underwhelming.
His guitar playing is at its absolute best here. The albums is a bit overlong though, and I feel it could greatly benefit from removing tracks 8 and 9 which would shorten it for 15min. Nearly half the tracks are truly excellent blues rock songs, and I also like the quieter more nuanced track such as the opener and the closer (the latter is a gorgeous song).

Oh, and Layla instrumental outro is simply one of the most beautiful things in existence.

That's very disappointing to hear about Clapton d'oh!

Love the album though. Easily my favorite version of Little Wing.
