A fun but not overly interesting album vs a more interesting, but rather arduous album.

I'm going against the grain (at least so far) on this one and running with Current 93.

Current 93 maybe? May just abstain, haven't liked much from of either these artists (or works under this particular name) in at least a decade

This shouldn't be tied. Little Dark Age is a great return to psych-pop form for MGMT with some bangers. Its opponent is a neofolk album.

Is neofolk... a bad thing now? Think

Being said, MGMT will never become the band they started out as, but Little Dark Age is certainly a step in the right direction from their last.

I'm not interested in starting an argument in this thread, but I will leave this past post from my music diary here as food for thought:

Here are a couple academic articles looking at neo-folk that I found interesting. If you have a tolerance for academic writing and care about the political implications of the music you listen to, you might find them interesting and I'm curious to hear your thoughts. If not, then feel free to ignore this post.

Hmm... I always wondered why I couldn’t get into neofolk. Now I know it’s probably because in their hearts they are nazis.

Vote to Current 93. More interesting album.

Little Dark Age defeats The Light Is Leaving Us All 11-7 and advances to the sweet sixteen.
