Allright the final set of matches of the second round are up, interesting how the third round is shaping up compared to the wonder-bread outcome of the previous one . Probably not the best time to post this (thanksgiving for us 'muricans), but will give the entire weekend for the matches to run. Hope to see y'all for the continuing saga of aughties tuneful joy!

This is actually not a bad top 32. Could use a bit more hip hop and any metal is much needed, but at least it's a nice representation of indie, pop and a bit of electronic too (and it's often a good mix of those 3 genres). _________________ Finally updated the overall chart

Thumbnail. Click to enlarge.
A little tooooo stacked.
Kinda excited to see how this goes. Haven't a clue what our top 4 will be, particularly the pick out of the Sweatpants bracket.

Ok this part of the bracket is insane. Broadcast beat Since I Left You which beat Alvin Row, and now they have to deal with LCD Soundsystem.

Albums are actually easier for me to fit into my schedule than songs, as I can listen to them in the background or on the go. I got overwhelmed by the sheer volume of matches and tuned out for most matches in rounds 1 & 2. But now that the field has narrowed I expect I'll be fully participating again. _________________ Add me on RYM

I'll have to say that I agree with how the site ranks top ranked tracks much better than how BEA is voting in the forums right now, like especially if you have a one song per album rule (it is a bit artist dense is my only beef). But yeah, ya'll crazy, even if that's why I still come back. It's like this intrigue on a different perspective; trying to understand but I keep just feeling dumb.

EDIT - as I peak through this, I'm surprised some of those tracks weren't nominated. But glad some others buried deeper (like real deep) were.

FOUR! I seriously cannot imagine anyone who could agree with that, especially if they've actually listened to a lot of music like you did roundthebend
Even with the 1 per album rule, surely you don't think that 2 best tracks this decade are by the same band (Reckoner and How to Disappear)? _________________ Finally updated the overall chart

I suppose all I'm saying is that if I were take the final results of this tourney and compare it to that list, I'd agree with the latter.
Another way of saying it is there's tracks in the top 20 in that list voted out already before we even hit a sweet 16, and by lesser tracks, imo, of course. So that's what I'm a bit astounded by, is some deeper cuts are winning and the "tried and true" tracks are being voted out (admittedly by people who said something to the effect of the song is great, it's just been played to much/not fresh anymore, etc.).
Having said all this - it is kind of a fresh take - you know, not having Wake Up as a top contender and a song not even in the top 1000 of that list moving on to a possible sweet 16 or whatever.
But yeah, I should probably just shut the hell up.
EDIT: Reckoner easily is a contender for the top song of the decade for me, but no, I don't agree the top 20 should be 19 Radiohead songs.
