Foreign Body by Mirrorring

Revisitng one of my favorite albums of the decade: a collaboration between Liz Harris of Grouper and Jesy Fortino of Tiny Vipers. Beautiful ambient folk with some ethereal vocals. Extremely peaceful and soothing. Severely underappreciated imo.

Black Cascade by Wolves In The Throne Room

Wolves in the Throne Room is a band I want to love and I think I'm almost there. They are far from the "Band I want to love but can't get into" category. Black Cascade, which is an underrated addition in their catalogue, certainly is helping them trend towards the love category. Of all their discography I've listened to thus far (only need to get to Thrice Woven), this one is their most hypnotic and ghostly in my opinion. I think some of their best synth work is on this record because it seamlessly weaves the atmosphere together. That, along with the complimentary potent black metal, makes this record a must heard for the U.S. black metal scene and an underappreciated gem in the Wolves in the Throne Room catalogue.

Looping State Of Mind by The Field

I listened to this record by The Field and I enjoyed it very much. I think it captured that MDMA feel which is what made me love From Here We Go Sublime. The closer was pretty underwhelming and awkward, but the rest of the album especially the first 3-4 tracks are closer, if not on, the same tier as the debut.

Nice to see you've made another music diary. I'll keep an eye on it. I tend to peep your charts fairly often to see what's good

Finals are over (I only have one more semester of in-class learning before it's clinical rotations, thank God), after-finals partying is finished, and I'm recovering from tonsillitis and the flu. Now I can get back to my favorite hobby that helps me unwind and recharge before I go through another semester of hell (plus boards on top of it all Shocked ). My brain feels kind of mush after an intense semester that easily burnt me out. On top of that, I'm still recovering from my aforementioned illness so I apologize if the write-up seems kind of wack.

Weighing Souls With Sand by The Angelic Process

It took a couple listened, but here an album that went from "I want to love" to "I do love!" There was a recent remaster that may have done the album justice for my ears... or it could have simply been my change in taste overtime. Anyways, I'm listening to it again on my turntable since they did a new pressing and I had to snag a copy. This record is a heavily distorted, yet dreamy and heavy masterpiece. It pioneered the "doomgaze" scene (albeit I don't know how strong that scene is compared to blackgaze), but it certainly holds its ground amongst essential shoegaze albums. Fantastic stuff right here.
