God, The Alchemist has been a busy man this year. Best part is he doesn't miss... like ever. Features from Benny and Conway of course will be fire. I'm sure Tyler will kill it too, he fit in surprisingly well on Westside Gunn's album despite it being coke rap (not really Tyler's scene). Rick Ross is hit or miss but overall I have high expectations for this album.
also Medhane has a new album called "Cold Water" making some noise. More of that slums rap that is everywhere right now, its really great too. Fans of Earl, MIKE, Navy Blue, Slauson Malone, Mavi, Maxo, etc will love it.
Skinny if I could get some clarification on how this style originated I would be grateful. Is it just that Earl is already that massively influential in the underground or was this style around before him becoming more mainstream that I just dont know about? _________________ Griselda, by Fashion Rebels 2020's Hip-Hop 2020's Country
Fantastic stuff, it’s almost as good as Bandana. Hip hop of all sorts has been killing it this year. And RTJ4, (possibly) new Kendrick and several other big hitters haven’t even dropped yet. _________________ Finally updated the overall chart

I'd be lying if I said I knew. It certainly owes something to the whispered, drum-starved wordiness of Marcberg and cLOUDDEAD's lo-fi, abstract impressionsim, as well as the introspective, DIY stylings of Wiki and RatKing or even Doom's angular, spontaneous, somewhat alien outbursts, but my guess is that it's largely a byproduct of the internet's ever-growing democratisation of hip-hop, with people able to do weirder things and find like-minded folk more easily, less bothered by braggadoccio or cleanliness of sound and more interested in something that - to certain ears - feels like a more authentic representation of the isolationist traffic jam of modern life (or, you know, something less pretentious; forgive me, I've been drinking). It's cool, regardless. I'm a fan of most of the artists you mentioned.
Less cool, however, is your pithy dismissal of Rozay - dude is a beast, and consistent as hell. He has a dope baritone, an ability to write memorable, larger than life coke raps, and a penchant for the most luxurious of beats. His back catalogue is great! (I literally had a conversation IRL about him the other day, with a friend who didn't/doesn't understand the appeal either, in fairness.) Peace, though. _________________ 2021 in full effect. It's like the first half was written for a rich person's magazine and the other half was written for a street gang. It's like a teetering scale... _________________ Do it yourself and let me play my music: https://www.besteveralbums.com/thechart.php?c=61802
