Hey. I'm new to Besteveralbums. I haven't been very active on music forums in the past, so if I say something that sounds weird, just bare with me. But I'm a huge music fan anyway, I use Rateyourmusic's lists for suggestions, and I've heard a lot of music.

My favorite bands are Led Zeppelin, Beach Boys, Metallica, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Siouxsie and the Banshees, My Dying Bride, Jay-Z, Pink Floyd, Swans, Vangelis (yes, Vangelis), Outkast, Arcade Fire, Helloween, Blind Guardian, New Pornographers, Testament, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Immortal, The Band, Allman Brothers, The Flaming Lips, Ween, The Clash, Johnny Cash, Blink-182, and Alcest.

By the way, I haven't heard the entire discographies of some of these bands, so don't be surprised if I'm not familiar with a couple of their albums.

Welcome aboard. Also Vangelis is really dope. The Blade Runner soundtrack is legendary.

Looks like there's not a lot I can do other that rate music and post. So if I have this straight, I just hang out here and rate albums and songs, and post on the forums, and I'll work my way up to the levels and get to make more charts from there?

Yep, that is what you have to do. And it is a bit of a wait. But once you get the decade and year lists, it becomes fun. Also I would say once you get the opportunity to moderate data, you can get points that way.

How do I do that?

So lets say you have an album you really enjoy but isn't in our database, add it in your greatest list. Then when you add that particular album, there is a paper icon. Click it and you get add tracks, album cover, and year of release. Alternately there should be a section of this site where there are records that have to be worked on. But I'm not seeing it unless I'm being blind. I feel like albummaster could explain this a lot better than me. There is also the diary forum where you could ramble about albums you enjoy, albums you don't like and could be room to explore new music that you might never listened to but give that good old college try. Hopefully this provides you with becoming a regular on this site.

Since I'm bored as fuck, I'm going to say some more about myself.

I'm not typically very active on forums. I don't have any accounts on other music websites since I only recently started trying to be more active on forums.

My favorite albums are Peepshow by Siouxsie and the Banshees, Led Zeppelin IV, The Blueprint by Jay-Z, The Dreaming by Kate Bush and Pet Sounds by Beach Boys. I've got several other lesser favorites like Keeper of the Seven Keys Pt. 2, Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd, Dunmy by Portishead, London Calling by The Clash, Treasure by Cocteau Twins, Through Silver in Blood by Neurosis, and Let Love In by Nick Cave. I've got many other mood-based favorites depending on what I want. I like soft music like Joanna Newsome and batshit insane music like Pig Destroyer or Dropdead. I've heards hundreds of punk and metal albums, oftentimes intertwining, and I still feel like I'm just getting started. I love modern music, but I have a nostalgic favoritism towards classic rock and pop.

My favorite kinds of movies are psychological thrillers, war films, and gangster films.

Hi Spyglass, welcome to the site and hope the site helps you pass a bit of time during the boredom of the lockdown Wink . As Luigi says, data moderation is quite an easy way to gain points and it also helps the site. There's a section of the site where unmoderated albums appear... If you check out the newly added artists/albums pages in the 'Home' menu, these pages can be filtered to show 'unmoderated' items (these are items that need data to be added). Or else, just adding a chart, rating a few items etc are all ways of accumulating points.
