Although more focused on years since the 1990s than my own chart, this is quite interesting on many levels. Laughing Stock certainly deserves a position near the top of any chart, although I much prefer Paul Webb and Lee Harris’ O.Rang to Hollis’ solo album – an illustration of how much Talk Talk’s brilliance was teamwork and not individual. Lift Yr. Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven is another one from a similar genre that fully deserves its reputation, and I was surprised to see arguably the first post-rock band Van der Graaf Generator here as another fully deserved selection.

There are some other very good selections too – and if you like First Utterance, Jan Dukes de Grey’s Mice and Rats in the Loft is even better. Dirty Three are another impressive band on the edge of my all-time chart, although I prefer their lesser-known first two albums Sad and Dangerous and Dirty Three.
