and of course, MegaUpload has been shut down since we last saw this topic.
Not that it matters Mediafire pwned it's ass.
But now that means I'll have to go out of my way to get a What.cd account If I want to get anymore high quality music. It's not easy to find Flac on mediafire.
True. That might change soon though, considering MegaUpload users are probably going to upload to mediafire next.
And there are still a few flac files floating around...but, it's just mostly mp3.
I'm not sure if it does make you a bad person if you don't pay for music. I mean personally I literally couldn't afford to pay for all the music I download, I mean even if it were just 3 albums a week I simply couldn't afford to lose £30 a week.
And just think of all the music I would never have listened to if it hadn't been free? Alot of old artists would simply be forgotten if young folk couldn't download them for free, you think I would have spent £100 for the Pink Floyd discography back when I discovered them when I was about 16? Of course not, and here I would be today with not a single PF album completely unaware of what I was missing out on.
This goes for all music produced pre 2000, I didn't live through it so I can't be expected to buy it as it comes out. Now if I want to get into a band I don't know about then the only way is to download illegally, it's either that or not hear it at all.
Artists get most of their revenue from live music anyway, because you can't steal that. And to be fair if you're making money from making music you should be pretty chuffed, and you should care more about how many people can hear your music than how much money you're making anyway.
Like I say, just think of all the amazing music I would be completely ignorant of if it weren't for illegal downloading. Last album I downloaded was Television - Marquee Moon after seeing it's rating on this site, if I'd had to pay for it I wouldn't have downloaded it so what would Television prefer? That I never listen to it or that I download it for free? _________________ Shut up mate you're boring!
TBH, I own roughly about a third to a half of the albums on my chart, I do attempt to buy most of the albums but some are way over priced (20 euro for any Beatles/Pink Floyd album?), plus the music stores are pretty bad here (couldn't find Loveless anywhere and didn't see The Velvet Underground & Nico in a store till I was abroad ), occasionally I do find an absolute gem hidden at the bottom of the second pile (Moon Safari by Air just this morning ), but those are rare, so the only way to hear the music I want is to stream it on Eircom Music Hub (Kicks the ass of Last FM, can't comment on Spotify as we don't have it here yet ), if I do then like an album enough I would download it (if I can find it ).
So I've nothing against downloading, it has helped me to hear some of the best music of all time!!
That's nice and all, but I don't know anybody with any invites and I don't feel like studying for their stupid test. I know how to seed, and I feel that should be enough.
Pay to Play. Stop hurting the artists, producers, publishers, label, etc.
Sorry if you can't afford to get legal copies but theft is theft. How would you like your possessions stolen from you just because the thief couldn't afford to buy his own?
Whether or not you think piracy is wrong, that isn't a very good analogy. To explain why, please watch the following educational video:
