What do you think?? I sometimes think about this, and my decision typically changes. Right now I'm stuck between "Roundabout," "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Time," "Stairway to Heaven," and " Paranoid Android." All of these have that can't-top-me vibe. If course these are all rock songs, so don't pay to much attention. I'll be going through the BEA top tracks now that I've checked out the statistics section.

Btw, my favorite song is usually "Roundabout," but is it really more well written that the others, or is it just catchier?

I was actually considering either that or "Wouldn't It Be Nice," since Pet Sounds is the second album in my overall chart. I decided against it because the other options took different directions, as if they were told by chapters. But it is a brilliant song.

I think I could probably narrow it down to the greatest 1,000 "songs" ever written... Laughing

I guess if you like BEA or RYM taste you have these top rated/ranked tracks/singles:

RYM: Wouldn't It Be Nice / God Only Knows by the Beach Boys
BEA: A Day In The Life by The Beatles

I don't fucking know. There are hundreds of candidates. Only in Dreams is pretty good. So is God Only Knows.

My four favorites are Beach Life-in-Death, All My Friends, "Heroes", and Walk on the Wild Side, and they're all noticeably above any others for me, but that's not even close to objective, so I dunno. Probably "Heroes" objectively, I guess. I could analyze its artistry in how it ties its lyricism to its music, but I don't feel like putting in the effort to do that. Plus that's probably my least favorite of those four, so whatever.

Adding on to what others have said in the rock category, Born to Run, Sympathy for the Devil, and Like a Rolling Stone have to rank right up with the greatest.

A little more recent: Chicago, Do You Realize?? and Rebellion (Lies) are candidates.

For rap I'd like to suggest Alright, Runaway, and Nuthin' but a G Thang

For jazz, I think So What, Acknowledgement or Psalm, Take Five, Round Midnight, and Take the A Train are all in contention

For classical, I think my personal favorite is the 4th movement of Dvorak's 9th Symphony, but the final movement of Beethoven's 9th (the Ode to Joy) is undeniably the greatest classical "song".
