My boyfriend is really into metal music, so I wanna get into it so I can listen to the music he likes. What's a good album to ease myself into the genre?

What kind of music do you currently like? If you're a pop fan, start a little small with something like the Van Halen debut or Dr. Feelgood by Motley Crue. A very good start for metal (and a revolutionary one for its mainstream success) is Metallica, a.k.a. The Black Album.. Then move onto Iron Maoden's first seven albums.

I think a good place to start would be Metallica's Self-Titled, aka The Black Album. It's relatively acessable but still has that metal edge to it.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll start with The Black Album. After that, which Iron Maideb album should I listen to first?

Most people say that the best one is either Number of the Beast or Powerslave but the debut is lighter than both and still very good, so I guess you should check out their self-titled debut first.

For me the first three Black Sabbath albums were a gateway into enjoying metal, which I was very skeptical of as a genre until a few years ago. They're still my favorites.

I didn't much like Metallica's black album.

For what it’s worth my partner got into metal through Boris. They’ve got some very pretty records that kinda eschew the metal genre label a bit. Pink’s a really good one

Wow. Which albums did he get into Boris through? Was it just Pink or were there others?

What type of hard rock and other similar music do you like? Recommendations often work best being tailored to what someone already likes.
