Oh and I gotta drop a recommendation, since last night I have been listening to this italian musician's album on repeat. That is saying something (for me) because its a 110 minute beast of a post-industrial/Neo-Psychedelic album which is quite eerie, emotional and just...incredible. That sentence turned into something other than what I wanted. Started out by wanting to point out how its nearly 2 hours and then turned into a gush. It deserves it. Highly HIGHLY recommend this album to the moon and back savage garden style.

IRA by IOSONOUNCANE

the music, as it progresses, fits with the quite creepy and disarming front cover quite brilliantly.

---- I had a small queue of albums I wanted to hear last night (this was not one as I had never heard of him or it) including the new J Cole, St. Vincent, and Sons of Kemet. I also was planning on booting up the Mass Effect Trilogy remaster which dropped at the exact same time. But then I started this and I just listened to this and haven't listened to (or played) any of those at all.

I have been listening to this in the background for the past hour, I really like the athmosphere so far. Thanks for the recommendation! I will definitely give it another focused listen.

A couple summer-y recs from down under—

Flat Out by Gap Year
(If The National was twee)

Sun//Rain by Clariloops
(If Colin Stetson used a clarinet and a few pedals)

Turn My Dial: M Squared Recordings And ... Shoelaces
This is a comp, but I'm tossing it here because it's really worth a spin. Unfathomably good for a band that young. Here's a solid write-up on Bandcamp about them: https://daily.bandcamp.com/album-of-the...ial-review

I've been really impressed with Australia's output this year. Between Cave, Charmaine Lee, Neil Richards, Owusu, those three^. Been a great year for Australian release.

Ishta by Ahmed Warshanna

A nice fusion of Egyptian rhythms and melodies with Western jazz. A bit hard bop, a bit post bop, some cool jazz too. Nothing groundbreaking but sounds really nice plus that cover is fantastic. The supporting septet is good too. Ahmed Warshanna's mother unfortunately passed away from breast cancer in January, this album is in her honour.

Mach-Hommy and Westside Gunn have officially squashed their beef. This Friday Mach is dropping an album titled 'Pray For Haiti' via Griselda Records (first time since Haitian Body Odor in 2016) executively produced by Westside Gunn. A single dropped yesterday and its amazing. I'm expecting one of the best rap albums of 2021 from this release.

Who even is St. Vincent? Thought I lost her during the Masseduction era, but this is another reinvention. Now she plays soul, psychedelic rock and art pop with much less electronics and dance influences which didn't suit her. Not her best by any means, but definitely much better than the singles suggested and better than the last one.
