Just thought I'd jump right in and say hello.

My name is James and I'm a music addict Shocked

My story is the same as many before me. I got rid of 500+ vinyl albums in the early 90's because they were taking up too much room (I know, I know), replaced those with CDs which are now boxed up and in my attic since I replaced those with digital music which I came to realise didn't sound as good as vinyl, so I'm now 300+ albums into my second vinyl collection and loving it.

My musical preferences were shaped for the most part in the early 70's when I first started collecting 'classic rock' but my taste has evolved over the years to include everything from opera, to Americana to traditional folk to Cajun to New Age to some (but not all) country to the sonic pandemonium of Tom Waits and Primal Scream etc. etc.

I've come here looking for reminders of music I foolishly got rid of and, also, looking for music that I might have dismissed in my early collecting days because I had very narrow taste due to schoolboy peer pressure growing up in Glasgow, Scotland which didn't allow anything that wasn't considered cool by the group Embarassed (The Stones, The Who, Led Zep, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd etc. were OK, Bowie was borderline dodgy because of his costumes & make up Laughing and anything classed as 'Pop' was a no-go for us)

All recommendations are now welcome and given a fair listening.

Looking forward to discussing and learning from people on here.

Cheers

James

Welcome aboard. It will be interesting discussion especially with the pop notion. I think a good handful of user do love there pop albums. But there is a lot of variety if you decide to dig.

Welcome, mate. It's good to have you here, the area you describe is quite far from my field, so I 'm eager to be enlightened.
