this is the only Pixies album I own a vinyl copy of, yet the one I haven't heard in 5 years - Surfer Rosa and Doolittle stays in rotation. Maybe it's time to give it a listen......

It's perfectly fine but doesn't do much to evolve to the formula the group had been using. If anything it's a de-evolution of what made Surfer Rosa and Doolittle so great. Even my favorite track, Velouria, would probably be one of the weakest on either of those records. Bossanova may still be a cut above what most groups were doing at the time as far as this sound goes, but soon after this album, there would come groups that would do Pixies better than the real Pixies would be doing. This album was just the start of their downfall IMO
