If no one is interested that's fine but wanted to see if there was an appetite to discuss purchases made yesterday at RSD 2021. Just post your thoughts here

Morrison Hotel Sessions by The Doors

Features takes from the Morrison Hotel Sessions. Limited to 16,000 world wide. I've got number 15832 bought from Eel Pie Records in South London. Interesting piece of nostalgia around the evolution of some of the Doors greatest compositions. Not totally sure about the amount of Queen Of The Highway takes but interesting to hear how the song evolved.

Thought it was a patchy list at best this time round. Next-to-nothing worth grabbing, apart from...

Open & Close by Fela Kuti & Africa 70

Imagine Eel Pie was busy John - I went to my local about midday and they had loads left. And even then the knowledge that Banquet had the whole lot available online at 6pm (they still haven’t reopened the shop since they closed it last March) meant that even if I didn’t get what I wanted I could have easily picked it up on line (or on Discogs or eBay about 4 weeks after when the flippers got restless trying to Jack up the prices).

Personally, I think RSD has turned into a total farce.

Hi Jimmy. Granted, not as good a list as there has been in some previous years but I still picked up some real gems. Going to post my thoughts on them here as I get the chance.

Eel Pie was busy, especially with Banquet not open but they manage it very well and it was a lovely day so was really enjoyable. I understand that Banquets closure of the shop is permanent. they are moving their sales 100% online, which is a real shame. Was a decent shop.

Not sure if Kevin and Phil have inside info but according to their FB page Banquet are reopening at Step 4, which would have been next Monday if not for the Delta variant. That won’t be in time for RSD Drop 2 though (which has a couple more things of interest to me than Saturday’s batch).

Actually came from a friend of mine who I bumped into on Saturday so from what you say, he may be wrong. Out of interest, there's a new record shop opened up in Teddington, Roan Records. Have you tried them out yet?

Live In Hamburg by Maria McKee

Really lovely album. First listen and brings back memories of seeing her live in the late ‘80’s and early ‘90’s. Every bloke I knew has a huge crush on her. Great performer
