Great album, esp for a teen to get into
Rebellion and rap, what a toxic cocktail
I was 11 when this album dropped so nearly a teen, and the Beasties were all over the papers
At their concerts in the UK they spat beer at the ecstatic crowds.

And every other Volkswagen car you saw around town had its VW sign missing from its front grille, cuz Beasties fans had removed them to wear in a chain round their neck.

It was awesome to be young in 1986/87.

However their attitude to women was not cool.
Caged dancers onstage. Very controversial.

But that aside they made it feel like being an adolescent was going to be a case of sticking the middle finger to authority and shocking your parents. And with this album as the soundtrack it was gonna be a load of fun. It was.

It took me till I was twenty years old to get over my rebellious streak and grow up.
I am still not convinced today I am a fully fledged grown up. I think I will always be a rock'n'roll rebel at heart!
