This is interesting (to me, anyway)... Roxy Music is one of my ten (or so) favorite bands, and the rankings for their studio albums on BestEverAlbums looks like this:

1. For Your Pleasure
2. Avalon
3. S/T
4. Country Life
5. Stranded
6. Siren
7. Flesh + Blood
8. Manifesto

It's understandable that everybody likes Avalon, and lots of people are also Brian Eno fans which might explain why the first two are ranked so highly. But even given all that, Country Life should be #6 or #7. Aside from "The Thrill of It All" and "Out of the Blue," most of the album is not really as impressive as most of their stuff.

My list would look more like this:

1. Stranded
2. Siren
3. Avalon
4. For Your Pleasure
5. Manifesto
6. Country Life
7. S/T
8. Flesh + Blood

Still, this is a great album by a great band. Maybe not their best effort, but that's no reason to not rush out and buy a copy if you don't have it already.

Favourite tracks:
The Thrill of it All
Out of the Blue

I like Roxy Music, but they're a bit too formulaic, aren't they. Apart from For Your Pleasure that I love, I tend to pick up songs here and there..

My favorite Roxy Music album! I saw them live in '83 & '01; both fantastic shows.
