What sort of things do you play when looking to get down? Share your playlists.

Depends greatly on the party and who I have invited to get down with (these days it is generally older people who are all a bit nostalgic for the past!). The other disadvantage of being old is that you don't have many cool friends anymore, so most of the stuff that gets played at parties is utterly shite. These are some of the songs that come up again and again (although not necessarily in this order)

1. Voodoo People - The Prodigy
2. Gone Daddy Gone - The Violent Femmes
3. Waterfall - The Stone Roses
4. Westworld - Theatre of Hate
5. Dancing Queen - Abba
6. Lets Go Crazy - Prince
7. You're in a bad way - Saint Etienne
8. Rockin in the free world - Neil Young
9. Punk Boy - Helen Love
10. Love will tear us apart - Joy Division (I physically hurt people who try and skip this track!)
11. Swords of 1000 Men - Tempole Tudor
12. Icky Thump - White Stripes
13. The Living End - The Jesus and Mary Chain (ok I only get down to this when I am on my own but I love it!)
14. Mountain Song - Jane's Addiction
15. Thunderstruck - ACDC (Air guitar's and hopping is normally the order of the day here)
16. Tainted Love - Soft Cell
17. Whole Lotta Love - Goldbug
18. Walk Like an Egyptian - The Bangles (VERY popular with the over 40s crowd!)
19. God is a DJ - Faithless
20. Galvanise - The Chemical Brothers
21. Brimful of Asha - Cornershop
22. WFL - Happy Mondays
23. Are Friend Electric - Gary Numan (robotic dancing classic)
24. Cannonball - The Breeders
25. Everybody needs somebody - The Blues Brothers
26. Come on Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runners (everyone seems to love this..Confused)
27. Wasn't Me - Shaggy
28. Don't you want me baby - The Human League
29. Heart of Glass - Blondie
30. Should I stay or should I go - The Clash
31. In Between days - the Cure
32. 5 years time - Noah and The whale
33. Dischoe - Those dancing days
34. My Delirium - Ladyhawke
35. Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen (usually late at night when all the men are pissed and think they need to relive that moment from Wayne's world)
36. The Jean Genie - David Bowie
37. The Meaning of love - Depeche Mode
38. Freak Scene - Dinosaur Jr. (interestingly they all like this even tho most of my current friends wouldn't know Dinosaur Jr if they fell over them)
39. Silver - Echo & the Bunnymen (ok this is another one that I swirl around to on my own..)
40. Love is a stranger - Eurythmics
41. Don't bring me down - ELO
42. Connected - Stereo MC's
43. 99 Luftballons - Nena
44. Whatever you want - Status Quo (lots of quo style air guitar type dancing)
45. Rock this town - Stray Cats
46. Shampain - Marina and the Diamonds
47. I just can't get you out of my head - Kylie
48. FIlthy/Gorgeous - Scissor Sisters (for my gay friends as I find this more palatable than more Kylie and Gaga)
49. You Gotta Fight for your right to party - Beastie Boys
50. Get the party started - Pink
51. Everything about you - The Field Mice (I physically hurt people who try and skip this track!)
52. Two Tribes - Frankie Goes to Hollywood
53. Strict Machine - Goldfrapp
54. Town called Malice - The Jam
55. Canned Heat - Jamiroquai
56. Stop (In the Name of Love) - The Supremes (usually woman doing a kind of synchronised dance routine)
57. Stayin Alive - The Bee Gees (cue Saturday Night Fever dancing!)
58. Ring of Fire - Jonny Cash (cue dancing like you are on a horse - lots of yeehaw and slapping of the bottom with an imaginary whip)
59. Sugar - Ladytron (I physically hurt people who try and skip this track!)
60. Baggy Trousers - Madness (nutty boy dancing - I'm actually quite good at that!)

Oh there are many more but I think I have embarassed myself enough now...Embarassed

haven't been to many college parties, but my best guess would be they're playing Wale's new album and probably lots of Mac Miller... Think ... most of the bars i've been to they play the same old hiphop/pop thats always on the radio...

I DJ occassionally, so I have a playlist I ctually use and update every-so-often. (I haven't had a gig in about 2.5 months...but oh well). I kept the songs I would never use Shocked (some really bad ones). But if it's just for a party, not a dance/club sort of thing, some of them might work.

I'll share some of my playlist (it's about 150 songs...) Only the good parts though, cause some of it's crap that I doubt anyone on here wants to lsiten to... Laughing

Just turn on some Ravi Shankar. I always try to do so at parties, though I'm not getting popular.

I'd only play full albums.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F♯A♯ ∞
Mono - Hymn to the Immortal Wind
Red Sparowes - The Fear Is Excruciating, But Therein Lies The Answer
65daysofstatic - The Fall Of Math
The Album Leaf - The Enchanted Hill

And I'll kill anyone trying to skip any song.

Godspeed? Red Sparrowes? Mono? What, are the people at this party buzzing out on heroin?
