For a long time, I have thought about starting my own thread about music, but I wanted it to be about something different or not very popular among music fans on the internet, so I choose to talk about traditional and classical music from around the world, not Rock, Jazz or (European and American) classical music; this is going to be a place for less popular styles of music.

My goal is to try point out as many great works as possible in every style or genre and bring them all together in one place to help anyone get introduced into these styles, but also mention enjoyable and entertaining works that include cultural ideas from around the world to help people get into other cultures. I will talk a bit about the history and technical side of these styles (surely without a lot of boring details) to further enhance the experience.

I don't really like to use a very detailed evaluation system since I consider myself a beginner in these genres or styles. I will be compiling a list of the most prominent works that I think deserve attention, but also I'll be reviewing those that are well-known to be of cultural importance. This is going to be my own personal evaluation that is subject to change as I get more familiar with these styles and the works themselves.

As I said I don't have a very detailed evaluation system yet, I just go with how I feel. I like to think in a simple way, so for now I'll just use these words and colors to point out what I think of a certain work:

- OK "O" beside the work means this is a good work that you should listen to when your goal is to have fun and discover the very basic elements of a certain style. It's pretty much like watching TV series to get familiar with the sound of a certain language. This is nothing serious at all.
- Possible "P" beside the work means this is a good work for those who got into the basics and are looking for more seriousness. It's mostly going to be catchy and accessible, but with moments of seriousness here and there.
- Suggested "S" beside the work means it represents a good introduction to a certain style. It could also be an ambitious effort to create a masterpiece, but it doesn't have the quality to last with you when you get more familiar with the style.
- Masterpiece III "MIII" beside the work means this is a great work, but to a lesser degree than masterpiece II. It has elements to make it stand out, but it's not fully developed. It either needs to be extended or further crafted to be rated higher.
- Masterpiece II "MII" beside the work means this is a great work that you should listen to now. It's going to stand out from the rest in the genre and you probably won't find anything similar to it.

###I'm not quite sure about the existence of such rating in world music yet, so I probably won't use it now###
- Masterpiece I beside the work means this is a great work that deserves to be remembered with the greatest masterpieces in history, so listen to it when you're looking for a very serious artistic experience, something similar to the works of the well-known giants in music history, like Beethoven, Mozart, John Coltrane, Miles Davis and others.

I'd like to thank a member of the website "After Hours", who introduced me into the idea of serious evaluation and active approach to music that I'm (hopefully) going to apply as I get more experienced in the styles I'm reviewing.
