I feel like this is an album on the cusp of underappreciated. It's one of the most immaculately produced rock records of the aughts, and is track for track one of the most memorable and invigorating. Also, I'm remembering the episode of American Dad where Stan gets super into My Morning Jacket and how silly and wonderful it is as a display of instant fanaticism that I'm sure many, if not most of us have experienced with different artists at some point.
Track picks
1. Wordless Chorus
3. Gideon
8. Lay Low
10. Dondante _________________ Inversion Verses

Thank God for a polar opposite album in quality, compared to the last aotd imo. Cause, yeah this album fucking rocks.
Actually, MMJ is currently one of my favorite bands ever, most certainly of the 2000s and this is their greatest album. It's very typical indie rock yet cannot help but stand out from the rest - maybe it's the psychedelic turns (some of them are the best done in that style), maybe it's the virtually extraordinary songwriting. If we're talking about bands who lost their "clout" yet still outshines most of the contemporary bands who still somehow got it, MMJ definitely is one of them; I like this album now more than anything Rh ever did.
You know what they say "they don't make music like this anymore".
Oh and the album cover is hilarious and gorgeous at the same time. _________________ My Top 100 :
