So...yeah. What do you think they got wrong, what do you think they got right, who did they leave out?
Some names I would've included:
Omar Rodriguez-Lopez(The Mars Volta, At the Drive-In)
Kurt Ballou(Converge)
Gram Parsons
Wata(Boris)
Kim Thayil(Soundgarden)
Alex Chilton(Big Star)
Greg Ginn(Black Flag)
Aaron Turner(Isis)
Paul Masvidal(Cynic)
Chuck Schuldiner(Death)
Steve Hackett(Genesis)
Steve Howe(Yes)
Guy Picciotto(Rites of Spring, Fugazi)
Dave Brock(Hawkwind)
Matt Pike(Sleep, High on Fire)
Dave Murray/Adrian Smith(Iron Maiden)
Dave Mustaine(Megadeth)
Glenn Tipton/K.K. Downing(Judas Priest)
Isaac Brock(Modest Mouse)
Justin Broadrick(Godflesh, Jesu)
Trey Spruance(Mr. Bungle, Faith No More, Secret Chiefs 3)
Nick Drake
Josh Homme(Queens of the Stone Age, Kyuss)
Britt Daniel(Spoon)
Jim Ward(At the Drive-In, Sparta)

Any guitarist list that does NOT acknowledge metal guitar virtuoso John Petrucci is an absolute joke and I refuse to take it seriously. _________________ A dick that's bigger than the sun.
Pertucci's technically brilliant but as Robert Fripp says, "Any fool can play something difficult." Dude's got no flair, no style, no soul. _________________ I love all music. It makes you feel like living. Silence is death.

I like the inclusion of John Mclaughlin and Eddie Hazel... and that Neil Young moved up tremendously from their previous list... I could take or leave the rest though
I would've included:
Mark Hollis- Talk Talk
Kevin Shields- My Bloody Valentine
Freddie Stone- Sly and the Family Stone
Greg Ginn-Black Flag
Andy Gill-Gang of Four
Steve Williamson-Stooges (as well as Ron Asheton)
PJ Harvey-PJ Harvey (she could rip in the '90s!)
David Pajo-Slint, Tortoise (so much influence from such an unknown guitarist!)
Sterling Morrison- Velvet Underground (really crazy rhythms!)
here's a new top 10, slightly different from my "top 5 guitarists" post:
1. Kevin Shields
2. Mark Hollis
3. David Pajo
4. Jimmy Page
5. Jimi Hendrix
6. PJ Harvey
7. Steve Williamson
8. John McLuaghlin
9. Greg Ginn
10. Keith Richards
(11). Eddie Hazel
Actually, Purp, Ron Asheton made it, came in at #60. He was WAY higher last time, though, like #27 or something... _________________ A dick that's bigger than the sun.
Fripp, McLaughlin and Hazel all needed to be in the top 50, and Fripp and Hazel should have been in the top 25. _________________ I love all music. It makes you feel like living. Silence is death.
David Gilmour's spot is much better than what he was placed last time. Zappa should be in the top 10, but I'm still pleased with #22. And Jack White should be way higher
I'm sure Greenwood should be higher too, but that's just Rolling Stone
It's a pretty good list. The two sore parts for me are that they dropped Robert Johnson from 4th or 5th on the previous version down to 71 and I also think Johnny Marr should be higher.
