excellent
whilst not exactly an uplifting album, it does have a certain appeal
I've always loved The Cure
and, to me, this is one of their best albums

I sort of oscillate between this one and "Head on the Door" as to which one I consider to be their best album (or my favorite of theirs, anyway). I realize most people rate "Disintegration" at #1, but I'd probably put that one at #5 or so. (No offense to the folks of "DisintegrationNation.") It's probably because I got into them pretty early on...
Most people (from what I gather) will also tell you that "Pornography" is their "darkest" and/or most depressing album, but I actually think it's this one. "Pornography" was recorded to sound rougher, harsher, and louder, almost to the point of trying to frighten listeners... but if you take away the production sound, the songs (other than maybe "Siamese Twins") aren't significantly darker-sounding than most of their other records. Whereas, on this one you've got "The Drowning Man" and what may be their most memorable track ever, "All Cats Are Grey." (It's in the top five, at minimum.)
