(please click to enlarge)

What a year! Remember when all those films came out? And we saw them!
Like No Time To Die, Dune, The French Dispatch, The Green Knight, Last Night In Soho,
West Side Story, Black Widow, The Last Duel, and In The Heights!
On such big screens too.
I remember the popcorn— (well... kinda).

So, let's have a toast to that part not being in strikethrough this year Mr. Green

Here's a thread where we can discuss/rec our favourite films and performances of the year, hopefully dishing out a couple recs to anyone who wants them. Was that film overrated? Underappreciated? Disappointing? Who is the worst person in the world? What is the power of the dog? Did anyone else not know what licorice pizza was slang for? Just me? Don't get me started on Red Rocket. So much black and white. Stacks of musicals. And remakes! (and not in a bad way!) Why was that woman in the window? And is it really bad luck banging, or is it loony porn?

SUBCATAGORIES:

5 Best Male Performances
&
5 Best Female Performances

Awesome, thanks for the early lists Charli and Gowi Smile (being said, I'm expecting you both to have changes before the deadline, so just let me know when/if that happens).

I'm waiting on some stuff too. Rollout has been slightly slow, which is interesting. Hoping the 1.5 months this is up is long enough (could always add another week or two). I'm surprised Happening, Ahed's Knee, Where Is Anne Frank? and Ennio are all still unavailable.

Quote:
(still need to see Drive My Car lol)

Do it.
(Wheel of Fortune And Fantasy is also on my list. I think Drive My Car is only slightly better, but it's still wild that a film composed like that ended up being a smash hit).

Yeah, I got 75 minutes in, but I keep hearing from people that the ending would be horrible for my emotional health right now, so I'm holding off for a bit.

I see what you did there. You named the movies originally slated to come out in 2020 but got pushed to '21.

It was carelessness on the part of the couple.

I believe I read Petite Maman is getting its US release April 22.

Anyway, good lists so far. Looking forward to seeing more.

Yeah— and, honestly, it's excellent. It's one of my favourite things this year. Easy rec.

2021 was a major year for remakes. Just look at BP— Nightmare Alley, CODA, West Side Story, Dune— (+ Macbeth, Cruella, maybe something else I'm forgetting).

Yes to all.

I think you'd be able to handle it Charli. Give it a chance when you feel ready. It's got a bit of a punch, but you've def seen harder hitting stuff.

Strangely, I can't find myself able to watch Roadrunner. Think I'd break down. Still not quite over his death.

Just making a quick predict saying CODA's going to be a shock win for BP tonight.

And Stewart's going to nab Best Actress.

Just a side note shouldn't the title be [Poll] instead of [List]? I just saw this and was afraid I had missed the deadline due to the title. Anyways...

1. C’mon C’mon
2. Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning
3. Our Friend
