The prog-rock as well as the "night" version of Atom Heart Mother. I have always loved this album very much, and when I first finished PF's discog this was my overall favorite. Echoes is still the best <10min song ever, if not the best song ever.
Also, the opening stretch is clearly inspired by In The Court of The Crimson King. One of These Days reminds of 21st Century Schizoid Man by starting it all with a rhythmic bang - then slowing it all down to an ethereal level with A Pillow of Winds (just like I Talk To The Wind). _________________ My Top 100 :

An excellent album. Floyd was in their own world with this one, and I visited that world regularly. This is NOT your mom and dad's pop music. Some people couldn't handle this music at all. It was much too innovated, different, and 'out there' for them. This was the Floyd album that let us know they were serious about themselves and their approaching mega success. Even Andrew Lloyd Webber knew it, when he stole pieces of Echoes for Phantom of the Opera. _________________ Elder of the gentle race

Some absolutely marvelous music on this album and I like it more and more as time goes on. It’s tough to rank them, but this is right up there with the next 4. _________________ Attention all planets of the solar federation: We have assumed control.
