At one point one of my all Time faves. Still I think it’s quite good to great. The production is immaculate, especially on Gravity.

Weird, saw this when I had "Slow Dancing..." on in the background. Mayer gets a bad rap, he's a great musician, and this is probably his finest set - at least in terms of studio records. It's very very good.

Funny how I am in a John Mayer-phase right now (or at least I've listened to a lot of his discography lately) and this becomes aotd.
I think John is one of the best pop-rock musicians of the 21st century, mainstream or not, and this is definitely his best album. The songwriting is impeccable and the musicianship does a phenomenal job of shaping these pop-rock/bluesy cuts into masterpieces. I love how it starts with the clearly Van-Morrison-inspired classic Waiting On The World To Change. This song has literally aged like a fine wine (apply "It's hard to beat the system, when we're standing at a distance" to the pandemic man), and the worsen the world seems to get, the better song it becomes. I love the fuzzy and watery guitar lines on I Don't Trust Myself (With Loving You), but that guitar riff on Belief is frankly one of my favorites a rock song has ever produced; it's so catchy. Gravity is another fantastic cut inspired by Van Morrison. I love folk so I obviously love The Heart of Life even if it sounds a little trite in comparison with the rest; Stop This Train is much better in execution. Vultures sounds like a studio improvisation they made 2 minutes prior and it's greater because of it. You can say the same about the slow bluesy tune Slowdancing In A Burning Room. The Jimi Hendrix cover is cool too. And the last three songs is very of-the-times musically, but they are still awesome, especially In Repair is obviously that song was made when Coldplay ruled the radio.

Lyrically a lot of the songs has a theme of time, passing, and getting older and it's one of my favorite albums to have that; absolutely one of the most melodically memorable. It showcased how John comes off more as a humble human being than a global superstar.
