I’d go as far as to say, their best, or at least, my favourite. You Doo right is my favourite can track of all time. Simply stunning

It's a great record - if not quite as compelling or distinctive as the wild-eyed excesses of Tago Mago nor the blunt funk of (my personal favourite) Ege Bamyasi.
'Father Cannot Yell' is pure (and very, very good) VU worship - I find it nearly impossible to believe they didn't have 'The Murder Mystery' on their minds when recording it. But, as mentioned by others, 'You Doo Right' (taking up the whole of Side B) is the real highlight here - a thrillingly fragile, slow-building slice of quasi-shamanic, deconstructed blues rock that really points the way towards the greater work they'd produce in the next few years.
And, as much as the Velvet Underground love is unsubtle throughout, this album feels to me to be massively instructive on a number of my favourite moments in British rock: particularly The Fall's output, and PIL's Metal Box.
I've got the UA pressing, with the much better cover art. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
