http://pitchfork.com/news/44917-brian-w...each-boys/ Cool

A lot of people probably have heard this already, but I couldn't see a thread for it. Cause for celebration? I think so. A New Album to come out y'all Dancing let's hope it's more Wild Honey and less Still Cruisin'.

Hmmm... interesting this.

I saw Brian Wilson interviewed on BBC News when the Smile Sessions got released - he really does seem to have aged badly, especially in the last 5 or so years since his own Smile came out. And let's be honest - that only really worked because a) the songs were so amazing in the first place, and b) The Wondermints helped him out with the harmonies.

With Carl and Dennis gone, that leaves Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston and Mike Love. Love has been touring the Beach Boys in some way, shape or form for years. He was responsible for Kokomo. Enough said.

Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE to see them... but I know they'll be chuff.

To quote the immortal Grace Slick:

"All rock-and-rollers over the age of 50 look stupid and should retire."

Doing the opposite is stupid, too.

What, so all musicians doing rock music should stop at the age of 50, regardless as to whether they still have tons of good ideas?

What stupid fthing to say.

Well, Grace Slick didn't retire soon enough to keep her from dolloping "We Built This City" onto the legacy of the once great Jefferson Airplane....

"We Built This City" is Jefferson Starship, not Airplane. Airplane's reputation is spit-clean pristine.

"We Built This City" is Starship, not Jefferson Starship. Starship formed out of Jefferson Starship, which formed out of Jefferson Airplane. Grace Slick was part of all three. And "We Built This City" is part of the discography of the entire band.
