There is music that makes me cry a good percentage of the time I hear it. Not sob mind you, but the tear ducts get going. Not many songs, The Great Gig in the Sky is a probably the best example. It wasn't always this way. I don't remember being affected by music like this when I was younger. I believe it started happening sometime after my first child was born.

Am I alone? Have I just grown soft with age?

With age, humans tend to lose control of their orifices. Sad

Happens to me almost every time I hear "Engine" by Neutral Milk Hotel. Your child theory may be on to something, though, as that's usually the song I sing to put my two-year-old to sleep.

Makes a better NMH song to sing to kids than others. Imagine trying to get one to sleep by screaming in their face "I LOOOVEE YOUU JESUUS CHRIIIIIIST"

Haha, it's funny, she actually knows that one, too, and had her Grandmother convinced for a while that I was trying to raise her as some kind of Evangelical.

Songs that put me to tears:
Tori Amos-Winter
NMH-Two Headed Boy Part II
Weezer-Butterfly
Beatles-Here, There, and Everywhere
John Lennon-God (has nothing to do with religion, though)

So yeah, I cry.a good bit

"Whipping Post" is probably the closest a song has ever gotten me to cry for the sake of the song. Others make me cry because of memories associated with certain ones, some are even happy. Sad
