Been a tricky few weeks without record shops to visit and plunder. Have sold a fair few things on-line though as a result (including a knackered Studio One pressing of Never Grow Old by the Maytals for £30) so have been reinvesting wisely.
To be honest most of the stuff I’ve picked up recently has been compilations - 3 on Numero (the Prix Label one with that Penny & The Quarters track on, Good God! A Gospel Funk Hymnal which is pretty ace, and the Tap Label box set which is f’ing class), a great compy of late 80s/early 90s UK techno called Join The Future (Gabe, Joy - right up your street) and a repress of Girls In The Garage Vol.2.
Got this to match along with a long time favorite I already had (Here's Little Richard)... Haven't really gotten into anything much past these two besides comps. Any recs or is history pretty accurate when they say he exploded in the beginning, but the magic didn't last? (my attempts in the past say that history is pretty accurate, but am begging to be convinced otherwise).
Bleep.com are partnering with Warp Records to do a "Home Listening Music Sale"! 10% off all Warp releases since 1989 on vinyl, 20% off CDs or you can get 30 digital releases for a tenner! I just got my hands on these five CDs and am dead chuffed, here's a link if anyone's interested (I have no idea when the sale ends): https://bleep.com/warp-home-listening-music-sale
