Wondered into Reading's Sound Machine during my lunch break earlier. So they massively over-ordered RSD stock and have already started selling it all on at 50% off. Lovely. So picked up the stuff I was going to get on the day if I'd been in the country (bar Heart Of The Congos (which I'd already snagged at Honest Jon's) and Dread In A Babylon - both of which they'd sold out of):
This last LP is a gem - a lost soul nugget from '71. Seen it sitting in the racks in a few shops of late but for a tenner I took the plunge. It's divine - soul nuts (Norm, Gowi) will love it
Last night I placed an order for six more albums and 1 45 record. When I get them, I will tell about each one. Until then...
God bless you always!!!

P.S. No, they are not anything from Billy Joe Royal. They are from my newest musical interest...another singer who sadly is not here anymore either. _________________ Me & my favorite singer James Otto
Continuing the Studio One obsession - 3 JA presses in various states of beaten up (apart from the Delroy Wilson, which was still in shrink), but wasn't going to pass them up (especially the Gaylads LP which I've been after for an age)
Nice haul, Jimmy!!! Tell me more about this one. It looks right umps alley.
Rainmaker is a strange beast - in parts it rocks a fair bit, sounding like Jethro Tull meets Zep. But in others it's like Fahey crossed with Dylan. 'Folk-rock' is too generic a term but it probably fits in that category. It's an interesting listen. Actually thought of you as I saw a copy of A Gift From A Flower To A Garden in the original box with all the inserts but I really couldn't justify paying £60 for it.

Also, which of your studio 1 obsessions is super upbeat but also sort of mellow.
Hmm, none of those - they're all either Ska or Rocksteady. Tricky - probably best going for one of the instrumentals, specifically:
Which if you remember Give Rasta Glory from 100% Dynamite is a sax-heavy, jazzy-roots dream of a record. Might also be worth trying Jackie Mittoo's Studio One Showcase if you can find it, which contains the most dreamy and mellow Studio One track ever...

Yeah. Records have gotten crazy expensive over the last ten to fifteen years. I loved it when everyone was giving me their records for free. lol.
Thanks for the recs, Jimmy!! That instrumental album sounds great and the perfect prescription for this summer. Will let u know what I think.
As for Rainmaker, I'm intrigued enough to give it a spin.
