Vinyl which somehow arrived unscathed via Amazon in little more than a paper bag.

Just back from the Twickenham Record Fair where I nabbed:

Y by The Pop Group

Original UK with poster. Last owner had taken time to write all the lyrics down on the plain inner that came with it. Fastidious.

Third by Soft Machine

UK 1st pressing. Absolutely immaculate - in fact I don't think it's ever been played. Obviously once owned by an archivist who took all his records out of the original sleeve and then slipped them into plain cardboard ones with typed labels and all. Seller also had a copy of Mingus Ah Um which given my current jazz leanings I nearly bought until I went outside to give it a listen on YouTube (not one for me - think I'll stick with Pharoah Sanders and my spiritual jazz trip, ta).

Absolutely top-drawer US compy of Rough Trade singles from '78-'80ish. Mind Your Own Business? Final Day? We Are All Prostitutes? Read About Seymour? Skank Bloc Bologna? All here! Keep an eye out on my diary as once I've finished pontificating about Studio One a run down of essential post-punk 45s is next on my to-do list.

And through the post in the last couple of days:

Caetano Veloso (1968) by Caetano Veloso

Spanish repress from last year

Emmerdale by The Cardigans

"First time on vinyl" or whatever. Mastering is superb - well worth picking up if you like cute Scandinavians.

Nice haul Jim, didn’t realise Cardigans had been reissued. Best get myself down to Rough Trade sometime this week.

Anyhow picked this up on vinyl...

Magnetic Poetry by Comet Gain

+ a live Ride bootleg recorded in 1991 at Leicester titled Saigon which is not the best quality tbh
