Okay, so it's such an obvious question, but not really one with an obvious answer, in my opinion. I've been going back and forth on this question for a long while now, and I don't think I'll ever really decide for sure. For me, both of these albums are fully deserving of perfect scores on any scale and of their positions in the top 50 of our charts here, but which one is truly the better album?
Of course, Nevermind is generally recognized as their best. I mean, why wouldn't it be? It was incredibly original and influential in its time, it managed to sound poppy and catchy without conforming to conventions of popular music, and lyrically it was fairly innocuous. It was fundamentally the perfect album to appeal to the masses.
On the other hand, In Utero, though less accessible, has its own strengths to offer. For instance, In Utero is lyrically much deeper and darker, and musically it is much thicker and more sophisticated. So, while the album does not have the happy, jaunty appeal of Nevermind, it arguably makes for a much more meaningful experience.
So what do you think?

I thought that I was the only one who felt that way
I have never been able 2 decide between the 2.
Whichever one I am listening 2 is the one I like more. I really can't vote for I find them equal.
That is why I have neither album on my chart.
2 get out of having 2 rank one higher I just punted and put their Unplugged In N.Y. album on my chart _________________ .

If they asked that question on my exam I would fail, because I am 2 afraid to answer it!
But then i tried, I gave all 13 songs of the 2 albums a score in my head... Then in utero had like 1 point more...... So I think my subconsious likes In Utero a bit more ^^

I know it's not the cool answer, but I prefer Nevermind. It just has better songs imo.

I once bought Nevermind. I loved it immediately, so I did the same with In Utero. I hated it! Well, not completely, but there are tracks that I really can't stand, for an example the 2. song (can't remember what it's called)!
