My recent obsession with JG Thirlwell has got me thinking how his projects should be grouped on this site.

eg.

Quote:
Foetus — Thirlwell's main project... Though popularly known as simply "Foetus", Thirlwell released albums under diverse variations of the name, including: Foetus Art Terrorism; Foetus Über Frisco; Foetus Corruptus; Foetus In Excelsis Corruptus Deluxe; Foetus Inc.; Foetus Interruptus; Foetus Over Frisco; Foetus Under Glass; Philip and His Foetus Vibrations; Scraping Foetus Off the Wheel; The Foetus All-Nude Revue; The Foetus of Excellence; The Foetus Symphony Orchestra; and You've Got Foetus On Your Breath.
Steroid Maximus — Primary instrumental project.
Manorexia — Experimental instrumental project.

Mainly these have been added to the site (by me Smile ) and I wondered if they would go under the parent name of JG Thirlwell. His other aliases such as Flesh Volcano, Wiseblood and Baby Zizanie have not appeared (as I am trying to hunt them down) but these are collaborations so would probably exist under their own name.

In short: Should these acts be under JG Thirlwell?

I think anything where he is the main contributor should/could go under one parent. I think we might have discussed something very similar before. This was my best stab last time - http://besteveralbums.com/phpBB2/viewto...2292#22292

2. Where a solo artist releases albums under slightly different pseudonyms (e.g. the John Mellencamp example earlier on in this thread), their albums should be combined and be listed under the same 'parent' artist (since this is really the same solo artist).

I think this applies to Thirlwell. Even though Foetus is his main alias, Manorexia, Steroid Maximus and his real name all are essentially him.

Hello. Seeing that artists under different names are regrouped, I think those should be as well :

Palace Brothers http://www.besteveralbums.com/thechart.php?b=6051
Palace Music http://www.besteveralbums.com/thechart.php?b=2444
Bonnie 'Prince' Billy http://www.besteveralbums.com/thechart.php?b=1958

As it's mostly the same guy, Will Oldham.

corrected, and remember you can always edit and submit corrections from the admin pages (bit easier to keep track of from there).

I tried, but it was telling me I couldn't do anything and you were the only one to be able to for the next 60 minutes.

Anyhow, speedy correction as always! Many thanks.

Hullo! Along the same line, I think:

Smog: http://www.besteveralbums.com/thechart.php?b=5603
and Bill Callahan: http://www.besteveralbums.com/thechart.php?b=5003

could be compiled, Smog being the name Callahan recorded under before reverting to his real name.

Same thing goes I think for:

Red House Painters: http://www.besteveralbums.com/thechart.php?b=2434
and Sun Kil Moon: http://www.besteveralbums.com/thechart.php?b=1682
and Mark Kozelek when one of his LPs gets through : it's all Kozelek's work.

Thanks! I'm not sure if I could do this myself, if so, I apologize for the inconvenience.
