Hi

How about throwing out all that album-collection kind of box sets? they are so annoying at Top-Rated Charts and such pointless to rate.

I sort of agree with you. I can't see why anybody would want to include a box-set in a chart, but they aren't breaking any rules. The ones that make me cringe are the complete works of an artist, contained on 20 discs! To a lesser extent, dual albums packaged together as a different release (there are a few of those here too).

I agree about box sets and the lot. But I do have Chronicle, Vol. 1 by Creedence Clearwater Revival at number one on my chart. Should I take it off my chart? I have it there because in my honest opinion it's the best 20 songs I know of on any album that I've listened to.

No, keep it! I think what Jabapac is referring to are the monster box sets such as The Beatles box set, VU's Peel Slowly and See etc.

Actually what was I really meant and bothers me is, as I said: "Top-Rated Charts", because these box sets got high positions on there, but I do agree for both "Top-Rated Charts" and "Top-Ranked Charts".

Right, also include Live box sets.

Yes, I see what you mean. These box sets are rated highly by a lot of people. I don't think they are being rated in the same way as a normal album would be.

For example, the complete works of the Beatles, I mean most people would rate that highly, even though it's not a proper album as such. I'm not sure how to get around that, to be honest. There's no way of filtering those out at the moment, but perhaps in the future we could capture some more attributes to facilitate this (and also for flagging compilations, EPs etc).

I guess there can be a solution for the moment by just exclude the most shown highly-rated ones, and for other ones it can by notifying through Edit Album option for each. what do you think?

Are you calling for more censorship?

Apart from a few exceptions (Legend, The Great 28, maybe Star Time) I think that all box sets & greatest hits should really be taken off the site Confused They aren't actual albums, and it's dumb to rate them.

Is there anyway of doing this?
