On a serious note, I've never listened to this band before. What are they like?

Frist? Laughing

AND THEY'RE AMAZING. One of the best bands of the last decade. Pop-rock done to perfection. Also a really personal album, I think I listened to it non-stop in 2009.

95/100

The biggest reason I've never given them a try is because the few songs I've heard just sound like The Jr. Strokes. I thought 1901 was The Strokes the first few times I heard it. But then I listened to a Strokes song and realized Julian's voice is way better.

But I actually don't mind the songs I've heard.

Confused Really? Its weird because I like Phoenix, but don't really like the strokes. I don't even hear much of a similarity.. (also the strokes singer is so unemotive and lifeless, it ruins them for me)

I'd compare them to the shins first, but that's maybe because Ive listened to both a lot lately.

That's the beauty of Jules,he's too cool for school.

'Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix' is one of those albums that I like, but whenever I go to listen to it,2 or 3 songs in i'll inevitably go and listen to something else. The few times I have soldiered on through the rest of the album I found it to be simple and sweet, with nothing to original, but then again originality is over rated.

I never got into this until the last 6 months to a year. I don't know why. I think maybe I share DLGGLD's enjoyment of only a few songs at a time. Or maybe that's what the girl does with this record in the car with her iPhone, a situation where I don't get to call those kind of shots.

Sort of like where I am with this album. I listen to the album once or twice a year, enjoy myself with it, but never feel particularly compelled to give it much more attention than that.
