I'm glad Heroes made it so far up the contest, I was surprised by that- and that Once in a Lifetime didn't hit the top 80 (psycho killer did, though). Pink Floyd should have just had the WYWH album as just one song, the same could go for DSotM.
The biggest thing that bugged me though was that In My Life- one of the most beautiful songs, imo, wasn't even in the contest. The Beatles didn't do too good of a job on here- that goes for most of the big groups.
It was fun though, thanks for the contest Caralladras76.

Nice job, lots of work/commitment administering this one. You should get bonus points towards your member rating caralladas76.
Interesting list... most wouldnt have made my top 100, but it was fun anyway.

Yeah, "Wish You Were Here" being so high is quite a surprise. Pink Floyd is more of an album band.

I would have thought Shine on You Crazy Diamond would have done better than Wish You Were Here, but whatever. I'm surprised Dylan lost. _________________ "I'm so ugly but that's OK cause so are you"

First of all, I wanted to say that I really enjoy this website, mostly because everyone is so passionate about music. When I talk to kids in the teens and 20s and try to get an idea of where they are in terms of music, they say that music is just not part of their lives the way it was when I was a kid. I worry that the music biz is imploding and will not be around in 15 or 20 years.
So, I was wondering if anyone has proposed a top singles chart. Generally, I better appreciate the evolution of popular/rock music in more multidimensional way when I follow the arc of singles(pop/rock/r&b/blues/country) from 1949, when the first single (Eddie Arnold's "texarkana baby") was made to the late 1990s than by only rating albums. I suspect that the members of this website have little interest in R/B/pop/rock as singles and I am think that most of the member are probably not into 45s, however, I would be very interested in a top 45 chart. I still have thousands of singles that I play on my 1954 RCA 45 player. I experienced pop music on singles until 1965 and then I bought both albums and singles.
Some singles like for instance, "Paperback Writer" or "Paint it black" sound much better to me on a mono single, than on a stereo CD. In Geoff Emerick's book, he said that Paul McCartney said that you have to listen to the early Beatles songs on a 45 because the singles were actually pressed in a certain way that would, for instance, make the bass in "Paperback Writer" pop in the way that Paul wanted. Singles were the only constant in popular music as albums didn't really start becoming the dominant format until the mid 60s...As you know, the Beatles released many of the most famous songs as singles only because they felt that the format was so important and unique in presenting their music to the public.
Anyway, so it was just a thought. is this outside the boundaries of Bestever albums>
