What I chose to list were progressive songs for each year of the 60s. I chose to include songs that took steps forward, improved, advanced, or developed rock of the day. Those songs made progress, new sounding music, in other words were progressive. They could have been the Greatest Experimental Rock Songs at the time!
Progressive Rock came in many shapes and sizes, but it can be loosely defined as music that attempts to combine rock and psychedelic with classical, symphonic, and literary elements. Progressive Rock has its origins in the British psychedelic scene of the late 60s. Inspired by the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper, the first wave incorporated elements of European and classical music into rock. Progressive Rock expands the limits of rock & roll. It tends to be traditionally melodic, literary, and oriented toward classically trained instrumental technique.
Sometimes it is called Art Rock which is more likely to have experimental or avant-garde influences, placing novel sonic texture above Progressive Rock’s symphonic ambitions. Experimental Rock is tangentially related to Art Rock, yet it is more challenging, noisy and unconventional.
Also sometimes known as “classical rock”—bands playing suites, not songs; borrowing riffs from classical composers instead of the founders of rock n’ roll; using language closer to poets than to rhythm and blues artists. One should not be confused of course with all the related styles: Album Rock, Art-Rock/Experimental, Avant-Prog, Canterbury Scene, Experimental Rock, Kraut Rock, Neo-Prog, Noise-Rock, Obscuro, Post-Rock/Experimental, Progressive Metal, Prog-Rock/Art Rock, etc. _________________ Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by RFNAPLES

RFNAPLES I agree with everything you have except these are not experimental rock songs. Experimental ROCK experiments with the basic elements of the genre, and/or which pushes the boundaries of common composition and performance technique. All of these songs are still basic songs in form and chord usage even if "Like a Rolling Stone" goes for six minutes it's still a simple blues folk rock song.

"Strawberry Fields Forever" was recorded in 1966. Elvis was rock and roll and “Summertime Blues" (1958) Eddie Cochran is just as much a precedent to that song. I have to disagree with you and the only songs on your list are actually experimental rock are these songs. I don't mean to be harsh but the "Twist" and "Little Sister" experimental rock you must be joking.
The Beach Boys-Good Vibrations-1966
The Beatles-Strawberry Fields Forever-1967
The Rolling Stones-Sympathy for the Devil-1968
Led Zeppelin-Whole Lotta Love-1969
