I haven't been to many, but the first one I got dragged to was probably the best. Placebo touring for Black Market Music in Montreal.

2nd would probably be Radiohead last summer, also Montreal at Parc Jean-Drapeau. But I admit I didn't enjoy the experience much as it was raining and muddy...and outdoors. Plus my view kept getting blocked.

Other than that, been to two other Placebo concerts (my wife's a big fan), one in Montreal (Sleeping With Ghosts, and it was a letdown), one in Boston (for Meds), and also in Montreal a Filter concert (two opening acts, one of them The Exies who I ended up liking better) and Charlatans UK / Starsailor (wife wanted to go for Starsailor). This summer it looks like I'll be going to a Depeche Mode show in Montreal. Wife would also like to go to Placebo and Keane shows that she expects to be there, but I don't see that we could swing the $$.

Oasis - Philadelphia 2008

I know Oasis is looked down upon for stealing a lot of music from other artists (listen to Cigarettes and Alchohol then Bang a Gong (Get it On)) but i really enjoy their first two albums and really think they have contributed a bit to music. And luckily for me they played all their old stuff at this concert. It was great.

I was at Depeche Mode in Montreal Saturday night.

The warmup act (some Swedish band I'd never heard of but my wife had) was tepid at best. One song was good, two were passable, the other three were boring at best. Mercifully, only a 35-minute or so 6-song set.

DM came on by 9pm - launched into three songs from the new album (they'd do a couple more by the end of the night, but never did 3 that I would have liked to hear) before hitting any of the classic stuff. Largely ended up being songs off Violator, Songs of Faith & Devotion, and Ultra, with a couple others thrown in (just one from the last album).

Highlights for me were Martin Gore singing "Home" with just a piano-style keyboard accompaniment and largely a capella - very minimalist instrumentally but with his voice it's hard to call it that, just incredible - and the show closer (second encore) with Gahan and Gore at the end of the runway together singing "Waiting For the Night".

DM is just a GREAT live band - I don't think I can listen to the albums without thinking them dull by comparison now. Not bad for a nearly 30 year old new wave act from the 80s.
