That Finland goal was hilarious, but maybe not if you're from Ireland... And I was surprised to learn that Keane has 68 international goals to his name, which is equal to Gerd Mueller's international contributions. Not a bad company to be in! And it's also 18th all time according to this.
Oh if you think that's hilarious, give a watch to this goal San Marino scored against us in 2007, the real dark days...
Despite these losses, we're on the right track, there's some exciting young players coming through and we're actually trying to play some football for the first time since the early 2000's probably, I'm happy to give Kenny time cause these last few games have been the best Irish performances in years, just need a finisher to come through. Connolly? Idah? Obafemi? Parrott? Who knows?
Keane was great though, played through arguably the best and worst Irish teams ever to grace us and still consistently delivered.

Connolly was decent last season at BHA, Obafembi is also looking to be a good young prospect. I've never seen Parrott or Idah play though. Other than that, the team looks good and has a lot of young prospects. It's a shame y'all lost to Slovakia though. After penalties too, it sucks.
That's a legendary goal, I've seen it multiple times despite being too young at that time to follow football. But it did become a classic in the years since. _________________ Finally updated the overall chart
Villa... Wow! 4-0! I know it was a late goal against Leicester, and Liverpool basically didn't show up, but that's still a remarkable start for a team that barely stayed up. _________________ Finnegan was super bad-ass.
'These industrial roots are reflected across England: Stoke City became ‘the Potters’ to reflect Staffordshire’s primary export at the time, crockery, while the Gunners reflected London’s main export: colonialism.'
Savage, I love it.
Pretty great to see Dundalk going up against Arsenal tonight. _________________
"The club was founded in 1886 as Dial Square, reportedly in tribute to the team’s preference for crossing from wide positions and precise lobbed passes." is what got me. Also that paragraph about Cork
And Dundalk managed to commit 0 fouls the whole game, which is apparently the record in Europa League history. _________________ Finally updated the overall chart

We (Cork) had them for one crazy year where we went on this winning streak like Liverpool for about half the season til we sold Maguire to Preston, then stumbled over the line to the title, other than that we were second to Dundalk for years, Dundalk have fallen off a bit this season though, Rovers ended up with the title, whilst Cork have run into money troubles (again) and have been relegated to the second tier.
They were out of their depth understandably last night, 3-0 was reasonable in the end. _________________
No Croatia - Serbia (un)fortunately. Good to see Scotland back though. Our group is interesting, Czechs were always tough opponents. Still remember that humiliating 2:2 draw last time when the game was stopped for a few minutes because of our idiots throwing flairs. Scotland will play with a new found purpose, and England with Southgate can be either the worst or the best opponent possible.
I'm not really looking forward to the Euros, the new format with 12 host cities will bring the quality of the football down imo (with teams relocating and whatnot), and the quality at the last Euros was awful. Like, the worst major football tournament I've seen. But more teams means more money I guess. And I still find it funny that they decided to keep the "Euro 2020" name and play it in 2021. _________________ Finally updated the overall chart
