I have just completed my top 50 albums list and have been surprised that some of my inclusions had never been voted for before.

Some are Irish artists that just dont have the recognition outside Ireland.
So its about time the rest of the music world sat up and took notice of the following albums:

1. Whipping Boy - "Heartworm"
2. Bell X1 - "Music In Mouth"
3. Ham Sandwich - "Carry The Meek"

There were also 3 non-Irish albums that I selected that had never been voted for before:

1. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - "Howl"
2. The Charlatans - "Us And Us Only"
3. Stina Nordenstam - "And She Closed Her Eyes"

If anyone decides to download / buy any of these albums, let me know what you think of them. "Heartworm", "Music In Mouth" and "Howl" are absolute classics.

I also tried to select And she closed her eyes in my own top 50, but couldn't find it in the database. Absolute masterpiece.
.
As far as your other selections are concerned, I think Some friendly and Tellin' stories are the only decent Charlatans albums. And BRMC and Whipping Boy were never my cup of tea... Never heard of the other two, what do they sound like ?

BRMC weren't really my cup of tea either until "Howl", which I never get tired of listening to.
Bell X1's "Music In Mouth" was described at the time (2003), as "how Radiohead could have sounded". But they have their own distinctive sound. They've released 2 pretty decent albums since, but they're not quite as good. "Alphabet Soup" is 1 of many highlights.

My albums that hadn't been voted for:

The Pogues - "Red Roses For Me"
The Legendary Pink Dots - "The Golden Age"
The Cure - "Boys Don't Cry"
Sisters of Mercy - "Some Girls Wander By Mistake"
Bauhaus - "In The Flat Field"
Porno for Pyros - "Porno for Pyros"

6 out of 50 still means I've got pretty popular taste music... or that the members of this forum are a bunch of weirdos who understand nothing but each other:)

I had more until I changed my chart recently.

Stranger In Town - Bob Seger

Paradise Theater - Styx (1 other person has this on their chart)

I do find this a bit surprising because these are certainly not obscure albums.

Paradise Theater hit #1 in 1981 and had 5 singles that charted #54 or higher. And sold 3 million copies.

Stranger In Town hit #4 in 1978 and had 4 singles chart #28 or higher. And has sold 5 million copies.

Two albums:

Of Natural History - Sleepytime Gorilla Museum
Components - Bobby Hutcherson

I'd love to see at least one other Sleepytime fan on this site. Although it is fun to have a relatively obscure band on my chart. And the Hutcherson album surprised me a little (thought there might've been more jazz buffs around here), although it's probably not his most popular work.

I was also surprised at the number of albums in my chart that were not previously on the site (11/50). A further 10 albums were only on one other list.

Bond - Born
Pilate - Sell Control for Life's Speed
VAST - Nude
VAST - Music for People
VAST - Visual Audio Sensory Theater
Kings of Convenience - Quiet Is the New Loud
Pilate - Caught by the Window
Bond - Classified
Lifehouse - No Name Face
Bond - Shine
Great Big Sea - Up

Great Big Sea, Pilate (now known as Pilot Speed), and Bond were also new artists to the site, which also surprised me. GBS is a well-known and successful Canadian band, Pilate is more recent and not as popular, and Bond is a modern British string quartet, so I guess that last one isn't so surprising.

It's just the first draft of my list, it still needs to be refined, but now I'm hesitant to change it if it means some of these lesser known albums and artists will be lost. Do albums get deleted if they are no longer on any charts? Maybe I'll wait until the limit is increased to 100 before I change it to ensure that none of these are lost. My love for certain soundtracks and greatest hits albums will have to wait until later. Very Happy
