Good afternoon fellow audiophiles, musicians, or just all-round music lovers. I have one thing to say. YOUR SITE LOOKS AWESOME 0_o. I have always been looking for ways to find more great music and this looks like the place to do it in.

Now: I am surprised nobody really has heard/enjoyed Poni Hoax, so I think I can contribute to the site right off the bat. It's not surprising, since I basically had to re-write the Poni Hoax wikipedia article myself. It's still messy but... whatev, that's not what's important. What's important is that you check out my top 25 list, and listen to the band if you like what you see.

A quick section about my tastes:

    I like Progressive Rock,
I love Alternative Rock even more,
and I really like it when the two are combined!

I'm an audiophile, and really appreciate good production.
    But nothing beats good songwriting.

    Poppy hooks are ok,
    but I can't stand a poppy vocalist.

    I have opinions.
I don't just say something is good because others do.

    I didn't care for Merriweather Post Pavillion;
I thought OK Computer was OK, but not spectacular,
    Yet I really enjoyed Funeral.

I think Demon Days was the greatest album ever made.
...I know that's a very controversial statement, but I can stand up for myself.

Some of my idols (spelling may be off):
Damon Albarn, Wayne Coyne, Steven Wilson, Gavin Harrison, Rick Wakeman, Mike Patton, Jordan Rudess, Alex Kapranos, Steve Drozd, Ryan Ross, Gabriella Quintero, Josh Homme, Sufjan Stevens

    I can't stand mp3's,
And there's nothing better than a good pair of headphones.

I also play keyboards, but that's not important either. I'm just glad to be here.

Welcome to BEA! Your chart is good, if heavy on new music [not a bad thing, but check out some older stuff to see where your favorite albums' influences are(I don't think new music is better or worse than older music)]

Thank you! I do agree, but i should point out that my chart does not state what music is necessarily "better", but simply what I enjoy and listen to the most. I love many older progressive bands, such as Pink Floyd and Yes, but have found my tastes to mostly lie within the late 90s-00s.

Nice mix... I'll have to check out Poni Hoax. I was expecting Soft Bulletin to be good... and I wasn't disappointed!

And here I thought I was the only one! I was pleasantly surprised to find the album so high up on the 00's list when all the critics rated it so poorly (I cringed reading Pitchfork's "review"...). I guess people who appreciate good music exist after all.

P.S. I checked out your lists- happy to see Porcupine Tree and other favourites so high up! I will check out some I don't recognize soon!

Oh, yes, Soft Bulletin was an experience. Much better than Yoshimi in my opinion. Especially loved the last half of the record (Suddenly Everything Has Changed — Sleeping On The Roof) but can't deny how fantastic the more uplifting first half was.

And yes, please listen to and spread the word about Poni Hoax - I wish nothing more than for them to have a long and prosperous career. I'm already worried they won't put out another album, as they haven't in 4 years.

But anyway,
Thanks everyone for the welcome! I'm glad to be here!
