When I'm close to a threshold for a Level, I've been tempted to post random stuff just to get more points. So far I've been able to resist.

Perhaps more gradiations between levels would help. At the moment I'm at 470ish points, 30 more I can post my top 100 up there. I have my 50 up there, and I'm pretty much done until I can add more. If I could go up to, say, 75 at 400 points, that could keep me busy enough that the 500 points would come naturally in the course of posting information, responding to comments, ratings, etc., for #51-#75.

With the proposed increase to 2 points per chart entry, you'd have already levelled up, so I'm hoping that this will be a good solution to this issue.

New idea: por que no los dos?

For moderation, add two fill-in boxes by band names - one for Latin writing and one for whatever else (Japanese, Cyrillic, Chinese, Arabic, etc).

Perhaps the second writing would show up in parenthesis or something.

That way Midori and Afrirampo can potentially show up in Japanese search engines while us 'Muricans, Euros, or wherever else writes in our type of squiggles, can read it as well.

There is definitely an issue with how to capture non-Latin alphabet titles. It causes problems for people searching the database using the Latin alphabet, and obviously there is the issue of representing the title correctly. Perhaps, as you say, the answer could be a box for the title in the original alphabet (which could be shown in parenthesis where it has been supplied), and one for the transliterated Latin alphabet title (which is what is being used up until now).

I like this idea because I have felt my album listening frequency slowing down because I can't make a 101-200 custom chart.

Just make it on a spreadsheet until you get that functionality. That's what I did.

Comments on the rest of the site can be thumbed down, and those posts won't then count towards people's totals. The site was designed to be self-policing, but it probably isn't performing this role actively enough at the moment.

This system has flaws. For example on Weezer's first album, I wrote "Strongest track: Buddy Holly" and got -1 votes but the TheBestFac wrote "My favorite song : Buddy Holly" and got +1 votes. There's a difference of 2 votes for writing essentially the same thing.

You clearly ripped off his comment I'd say, there's a clear reason for the difference. May also have something to do the fact that his comment and yours were made about three years apart and had different people looking at them. People on the site now may be looking for more than a Naples-esque assessment of the album.

And let's be real here, My Name Is Jonas is the best song on that album.

I didn't intend to rip off his comment. And what do you mean Naples-esque?

Best track: Say It Ain't So

Anyway my opinions have changed, Undone-The Sweater Song or Say It Ain't So is the best song.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume he means comments of the "Best track: [insert one of the more popular track names here]" type.
