Guys, I want to drown my ears in sweet, sweet melodies. I'm looking for some polyphonic Beach Boys, Animal Collective type stuff, where there are like 4 or 5 melodies going on at once, and I'm all like, "yes! give it to me, give it to me! more voices," and there's so much going at once that I can't tell what they're saying, so then I wet my pants from excitement and confusion. Here are some good examples of what I'm looking for:

I don't own any per se, but immediately The Polyphonic Spree comes to mind.

Will this do?

Good call on those guys. I used to play that album all the time at work and it really annoyed my boss. The funny thing is, I would play it from his iPod. They're sweet. I want to join their cult.

been getting into it a lot recently.. plenty of voices, but may be a bit of a departure from the original spec!

Nothing is quite like Animal Collective, but here's some stuff that shares some qualities

Brian Eno- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7E76Oatpjn4
Eno's solo albums are very much about melody and environment more than anything else.

Olivia Tremor Control http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6hkVXpQYYg you'll def dig this if you've never heard

My fav Talking Heads songs seems to give me that same feeling AC does: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUZ660Tcwa4

XTC- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNlHVGry9Wg Not exactly confusing, but a complicated and beautiful melody nonetheless

Gentle Giant- Knots- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUpREizsftU
Exceedingly bizarre, confusing, and unpredictable

If you want a really unique, disorienting experience, get some friends together get four cd players and try out Flaming Lips Zaireeka, where you play four discs at the same time, you'll hear something different every time. Great thing to have a party around...if you have similarly experimental friends
