How many of you have heard of the "wayback machine"? You've probably used it once or twice without knowing. Essentially, it archives internet pages as they existed at a past time. It's both practical and lots of fun!

To see a website as it existed, you simply enter the URL at this website: http://archive.org/web/web.php

It's fun to look at both the site at large and individual charts. For example, here's my chart as it existed on September 9, 2011: http://web.archive.org/web/201109090254....php?c=308 9

Wow! Only 30 albums!

If you enter in your own chart and it says that there isn't an archive for it, don't fret! When I first tried mine, it said there wasn't one either, but then I checked back later and it had updated.

I think there's a feature on the site that is supposed to prevent link spamming (that is a lot of links Razz )

copy the link to your URL bar and then add the extra number that is visible next to the link.

For example, puncture, instead of entering

http://web.archive.org/web/201209270001....php?c=228 7

you want

http://web.archive.org/web/201209270001...php?c=2287

EDIT: if any of you can get it to work, i'd love to know... i spent too long getting all of those links together Razz

Didn't work for me. It had a copy of my chart archived from Feb. 21 with Ride the Lightning in the top 20, though I distinctly remember moving RtL into my top 20 for the first time on Mar. 1.

I can't imagine Ride the Lightning disappearing from my top 20 Razz I'd have to listen to A LOT more albums in order to find enough gems to displace it.

Those links don't work but it's easy to see a cached version of your chart. Just enter your chart's link here.

No joke. It's pretty much a masterpiece. For some reason I haven't really listened to Metallica that much until just recently, though. I've had all the RtL through AJFA albums for ages but never really listened to them quite as much as I should have been.
