Nobody can, they don't allow it.

But yah, this is pretty much the only forum I've regularly posted on for any length of time, it's great here.

RYM's database is bigger, which is a plus obviously, even if it does lead to inaccurate information far more regularly than on BEA, and their overall year charts are more in tune with my tastes than BEA, but I've never even thought about registering there. The forum here has a real community vibe, full of lots of interesting personalities and a surprising lack of trolling, making it pretty unique among online music forums. BEA also has a cleaner, more streamlined look, and is very easy to navigate. I use both BEA and RYM for recommendations, but I'd never consider using RYM for in-depth discussion. The forums here are great, even if the quality of discussion does fluctuate from time to time, and that is what keeps me (and I imagine many other users) coming back to it.

Still this, four months on.

Like other people said, RYM's one advantage over this site in my opinion is that the database is bigger, so genres that get underrepresented there, like metal and rap, are more popular there.

Everything that's been said already + we're not pussy enough to block album covers.

EDIT: Especially the Nevermind one, like baby dick is sexual content. Lol.

Just to be clear:

On RYM, EVERYTHING GETS ITS OWN THREAD. You sick of members starting inane threads? On RYM, that's almost every member.

I've been using Rateyourmusic for years, so it's great to see bashing of it on the first post; gee that makes me feel real good. Semantics aside, RYM has a dynamic database and an aggressive forum when it's in its bad fits. I've gotten a lot of recommendations and due to the database discovered a lot of bands I wouldn't of otherwise.

However, I do agree on the community here; it's less dickwaving and shouting matches; it's more "I could be wrong, but here's this pleasantly voiced counterpoint". Besides if you think RYM is bad, I was a regular on Gaiaonline (an anime message board with a high traffic) music forums between 2005-2007 before I switched to Last.fm and then RYM and then here. Gaia was the worst music experience I've ever had and I was a complete asshat teenager on it so I look at those days selectively despite any knowledge I might of learnt there.

Last.fm is generally trolling, so it has its problems too. I should know, I was a troll for the most part of my first year or two on it.

I like it here, it's adult and friendly.

I still use last.fm, just not really the community anymore - I haven't posted in groups in years, same thing with shoutboxes and the internal forums.
