I'm pretty comfortable playing blues on my guitar so my playing really just consists of some sort of backing track and I just solo over it. Nothing worth recording though. All improvisation. No songs or anything.

Maybe you know a friend with balls enough to sing? Keith and Mic? hehe.

Does anyone know the best way to get onto a label? Or how does it all work? We were going to send demos out during the summer to like 90 labels but I know a lot dont accept them or look at them.

It's an extremely tough route to go. Labels get buried in demos, so very very few get listened to, but there's always a chance (which makes it worth sending if it doesn't put you in a financial hole).

From my experience, the best way to build your name as a band is to play a lot of shows and tour if you can. It's incredibly tough work. Booking a tour is one of the most frustrating things I've ever dealt with.

These days, being signed to a label isn't anywhere near as important as it used to be. You could self-release your record, and hire a publicist.

A lot of the "indie" bands making it big these days started off dumping loads of money into publicity and touring, building a huge debt in hopes of stardom. Some were independently wealthy and that helped them a ton (Mumford + Civil Wars fit this category)

My suggestion. Make music you love. play it live. Hopefully people will come see you do it. But don't be hurt if labels don't offer you a contract. Just enjoy making it.

I once told one of the artist's I work with to think about how insane it is for people to pay him to watch him exercise his demons.

Best of luck to all you musicians. Never lose sight of why you play.

Very well said. It would be great if the BEA community was nearly as strong a writing one as a listening one - even if it's just something recorded on a laptop microphone, it's all welcome.

Glad to hear it Smile

The rest isn't nearly as upbeat (if you'd call that upbeat), but I hope it all lives up to that song. I'm pretty excited to release it, I'd release some more songs on their own but I feel like it needs to be held together by the other songs, if that makes sense. Anyway, thanks again Smile

Surprised Dude...that's incredible. Not even joking. Easily the best song I've heard from a user on BEA (certainly better than mine) although I'm still yet to hear stuff I shouldve from Lethal, harkan and Hayden Embarassed

God, I'm so jealous of your voice.

I'm listening to it for the third time in a row now (it's way too short!!!). Why can't I download it Mad

can't wait for the album.

Wow! Thanks, that means a huge deal to me Very Happy

I forgot to set the track as downloadable, but you should be able to grab it now.

The album is currently at 24 minutes recorded and I have two or three songs that I've written and might add in. I want to get it up to at least 30 minutes so I can label it as an LP.
