Two festival lineups announced for Austin yesterday.

Sound On Sound will feature Sleep, Electric Wizard, USA/Mexico, Boris, Iggy Pop, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and a lot of other decent people. Likely not going the whole weekend, but if Sleep and Electric Wizard play the same day, I'll try to get a day pass. Saw the trio of Sleep, Sunn O))), and Boris at last year's Levitation fest and it was unreal so here's hoping to another great doom day.

Sonic Transmissions 3 will feature Ken Vandermark, Joe McPhee, Ingebrigt Haker-Flaten (he's the organizer), Jaime Branch, Chris Pitsiokos, and several other improvisers (and noise acts) from central Texas and Chicago. Looking forward to a duo from Haker-Flaten and McPhee, and then a sophisticated yet all out blow fest from Vandermark and McPhee. I'm definitely going to this. One of my favorite live sets from last year was two otherwise unknown improvisers from the uni in Trondheim, so something's always a treat at this fest.

Some friends of mine put this track together recently and i was immensely impressed by it.
Give it a listen if you have 4 minutes to spare, not sure what genre to call it.

I've been there. And yes, especially with the internets.

Also stumbled upon this and felt it was pretty good for the 1900s onwards (even if they glossed over the first 3000 years or so).

Part of me likes the live recordings and part of me wishes it wasn't. Also I'd like it if the clips were a bit longer, but eh.

Probably missing a lot of key selections post 1970 as well.

Hmm... likely just like the concept of this....

Really? Think What do you put ahead of it? He had them ranked 1. Damn 2. Good Kid 3. Pimp 4. Section.80

I think just by default Damn is my least favourite by him... I'm not finding myself going back to it too much. It'll probably drop in my year chart over time.
