Oh ok - I swear when we were having this conversation it wasn't (at least when I last looked I thought it was in the 30s or something).

Maybe. But American Dream as a record on this site got in the top 20 to top 10 really quickly.

Not to be a buzzkill, but I'm seriously starting to believe I'm the only person who thought American Dream was meh. There's some lazy production, and it's beyond unvaried. As an album, I haven't any desire to go back to it. It's tolerable in 2-song intervals at most. Ah well.
Digging the new King Krule track though. Can't wait for the record... his last is easily one of my favs from the decade.

Honestly, I can understand the whole not being into an album that gets a butt load of praise. With me thought, American Dream just got to me more quicker compared to demoing other records in their discog which aren't as vibrant to my ears. But don't worry. Not mad in the slightest. Who knows, you might like it as time goes on.
But I do need to listen to the King Krule album.

Yeah they seem like a band I would love in theory being that I am indeed an old boring sad sack, but I have just never been able to get into their music, mainly cause I find them a more temperate version of bands doing similar things in a much more interesting way. Oh well, maybe I just like my sadness a little more black metal these days

Can't argue with Sampha winning the Mercury Prize this year. What a shit grouping. Can't believe Slowdive got snubbed.

Stormzy – Gang Signs & Prayer
Kate Tempest – Let Them Eat Chaos
The xx – I See You

I still need to listen to Sampha's Process but also need to listen to Slowdive's discog at some point.

Yeah, def get on that at some point. They don't have the biggest discography, so it isn't terribly daunting. I'd say start with Souvlaki and then follow up with their latest.
