My record player my family had since before I was born and then I "inherited" at 12 years old has nearly bitten the dust... phono or channels or something in the amp keep shorting out (left is faint and then right completely shorts out). Kinda sad something I've been playing vinyl on since I was 12 (1996) is on it's last leg/dead.

Anyway I christened this my new record player tonight with this album. Anyone else in the market, this record player is about $70 off on Amazon right now: https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-A.../dp/B002S1 CJ2Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1542680678&sr=8-2&keywords=audiotechnica+lp+120

It sounded brilliant (playing through a bose 2.1 sound system for theatrical use, but likely will invest in something better for music in a year or so).

I'm listening to Primal Scream's Give out but Don't Give Up: The Memphis Recordings, which has only recently seen the light of day after 25 years in the vaults. It's way, way better than the album they actually released at the time (the songs were remixed by some big time producer to sound more commercially viable). On the Memphis versions, that muscle shoals sound is very much in evidence. I never realised Primal Scream could sound so soulful.

A documentary about the making of this is on the BBC iplayer.

Was never a much of a fan of the give out stuff but the doc is really good. Been wanting to hear the new version.

Do you know if there's a place that people outside of the UK can watch this?

Start at the 22:16 mark of this clip to hear a country song that I have been wondering about for almost 15 years now. This clip was only recently uploaded which is why it wasn't here sooner. Does anyone here know who the heck did the song first and what is the name of it??? Thank you so much in advance!

God bless you always!!!

Holly

P.S. The only other things that I remember about the song is that it was done by a male singer and it was on the radio back in the late 80's/early 90s.
