Watching live clips of Tortoise, especially during the Pajo days, brings a joy I don't think any other rock performance can come close to

Maybe Julianna Barwick... Joanna Newsom... that's all I got

I saw Tortoise after their last album came out.

It was still a great time.

With you on all of these, 'specially Barwick. Been fortunate enough to see Barwick twice, once at a real peaceful all day outdoor art gallery type set up. Not the best sound but stunning stuff. The followup was a huge dome where the sound was all consuming but she was BOOED. Heathens.

Did I ever tell y'all how Roy Montgomery dunked on the brow of the gods when he tracked "For A Small Blue Orb?" Was just reminded while basking in "The Electric Children of Hildegar...cke)" which, though the it was always there, highlights the throughline of Coeur de verre and similarly ecstatic Vuh in Montgomery's work (our dog's named after Hildegard too). Every time he lays a 20+ minute track, he strikes a chord.

single track is still the best thing so...s year tho
