[quote]More than 20% of the albums in your chart are by The Beatles. Having too many albums from one band can make your chart look a little unbalanced, and a lot of members take 'variety' into account when assigning a rating to your chart.

i don't fancy this message. it suggest that i should prefer the other members admirations over my own taste. i also think this attitude might unfavor any superior talents, such as...the beatles, par example, on this site.

If anyone is dishonest with their chart to look "cool" that's really sad and weak-minded. If people are purposely making their charts more diverse, even if that means limiting the number of albums for any given artist, they are doing that for themselves and because it makes them happier with their own chart. They want to have a chart that represents their broader taste. Everyone here is free to fill their charts with Beatles albums. I've noticed you've taken that liberty yourself. So what's the issue? Are you upset that not everybody here has 9 Beatles albums on their charts? Oh poor Beatles!! At this rate, they'll never have every spot in the top ten! What a travesty!

I understand your point. I don't like that message either. I got it for Bob Dylan when I made my top 40 the first time. I ignored it, but it was a bit silly.

I agree with you.

Okay, NEXT!

Lol yeah I got it on my Animal Collective ranking chart, I think it's hilarious.

Although If you get it on your main chart, you might want to consider putting a restriction on it, even if it's only something like "5 albums per artist"

I happen to know objectively that Bob Dylan has made 6-10 of the GREATEST EVER ALBUMS! So I will not limit it to fit some idea of variety.

You know I be joking. But seriously Bob Dylan is a GOD.

Apologies, that message was only intended to appear on greatest album charts, and not on decade/year/custom charts (which didn't exist when the message was designed). A few years ago (and perhaps still now!), we had a big problem with people registering and adding a chart with a top 10 filled with Radiohead or The Beatles etc, and this message was to try and discourage those types of chart a little bit because they skew the rankings. The message shouldn't be displayed for other types of chart, so this is a bug that should be fixed.

My mistake. I did miss your point. I'm actually in awe that this actually happened... the site is trying to tell you you have too much of an artist on your chart? How absurd. You make a very good point. I'm actually a bit embarrassed that a message like that is being sent. It's literally saying, "Hey, make your chart more diverse so the other users will be more entertained when they look at your chart. Sorry if you have to be dishonest with yourself, but too bad."
